Financial and business management software solutions specialist Lorge has embarked on an initiative to uplift the reading abilities of junior school pupils and develop an enlightened society that thrives on knowledge.
A long-standing supplier and supporter of Sage 300 ERP, Sage CRM, Sage ERP X3 financial and business management software and Qlikview business intelligence solutions, Lorge donated towards a programme that ensures schools and disadvantaged communities have access to libraries that will boost knowledge and ensure a better future for young school children.
Lorge chief financial officer Carlien Thomson says the company supports initiatives to develop an enlightened society that thrives on the building blocks of knowledge and learning.
"Literacy and education form the cornerstones of success, growth and prosperity. South Africans need to work together in building a promising future and acknowledge that there is a great need for well-stocked libraries in schools and communities throughout South Africa."
Thomson adds that viable solutions are required to address literacy problems in under-resourced areas. "As responsible citizens, companies and individuals, we have a duty to uplift disadvantaged communities and create opportunities for them to acquire a grip on life's competitive edges. It is a challenge we dare not ignore."
The potential of every South African needs to be recognised as well as their right to be presented with opportunities to optimise their potential. Thomson stresses that exposure to the intriguing world of books offers a perfect opportunity, supported by Qualibooks mobile library units and resources.
"These are effective tools capable of opening up great opportunities. We are committed to support education and at the same time improve our BBBEE rating. Our first interaction with the books initiative was a donation to Qualibooks to purchase mobile library units for Laerskool Generaal Beyers, situated in Danville, Pretoria."
