Softline Accpac, Boshoff Computer Solutions use Sage ERP X3 to re-engineer processes at Ebenhaeser

Meyerton-based Ebenhaeser Engineering is set to sharpen its competitive edge with the implementation of Sage ERP X3, from Softline Accpac, using the expertise of Accpac business partner Boshoff Computer Solutions.

This highly-competitive industry, in which prices rise and fall on a daily basis, demands consistency in price and stock quantities, explains Leon Mienie, MD of Ebenhaeser Engineering.

“To remain competitive, high levels of stock must be maintained in order to supply at short notice, and at the right price, and to prevent stock shortages an inventory control system is required that closely monitors stock levels. Inventory level management is a crucial element of a manufacturing enterprise and addressing the risk related to stock shortages is integral to the success of our business,” says Mienie.

Ebenhaeser shared these needs with Boshoff Computer Solutions and also discussed the introduction of a bar coding system in the near future. After reviewing various systems, and with particular regard to its competitors, which were already using Sage ERP X3, the company concluded that its foundation for future growth would be built on this world-class system.

“During our demonstration of the system, the management team at Ebenhaeser recognised that Sage ERP X3 could fulfil most of their key requirements and would introduce the opportunity of optimising existing processes. The flexibility and versatility of this product will also greatly assist in managing inventory levels and the Web interface creates many opportunities for addressing future customer information requirements, such as accessibility to pricelists and inventory levels,” says Chris Boshoff, MD of Boshoff Computer Solutions.

He explains that inventory level management will be improved by accurate traceability throughout the sales and manufacturing process, eliminating the need to carry unnecessary stock. Made-to-order consignments are tracked very closely and this will improve service to customers.

Some of the benefits Ebenhaeser will generate from Sage ERP X3 include:

* Improved stock and risk control. Stock counts will be more efficient and can thus be performed more frequently.
* Auditing stock will be efficient and controlled, reducing audit fees.
* Costing will be more accurate because the system can trace and add any cost related to the product.
* The selling price will be more competitive in the market, especially when steel was bought at lower prices than current market value.
* Customer queries relating to the product or any defects in the raw material can be solved more easily and accurately, because it will be possible to trace the exact cast number from which the material was used, and from which supplier it was bought.

Keith Fenner, Sales Director at Softline Accpac, concludes that Sage ERP X3 is ideal for companies seeking to utilise a modern enterprise system as a competitive weapon. “Ebenhaeser Engineering is continuously striving to expand its global market share and embracing a world-class ERP system demonstrates its commitment to continuous process improvement.”
