Softline ACCPAC 2005 business partner of the year, AccTech Systems, has been appointed by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) to implement all core modules of ACCPAC's accounting solution on ACCPAC ERP 500.
Looking for a cost-effective, functionally-rich accounting system, SANBI required a solution which could be effectively implemented across all its business units.
This includes eight National Botanical Gardens, three research centres, environmental education programmes and field research throughout South Africa.
Sunjit Singh, chief financial officer at SANBI, says Softline ACCPAC was the organisation's preferred choice as it offered an affordable yet technologically advanced accounting solution.
"We implemented all core modules at SANBI, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Book and Report Writer. Further modules are being implemented in phase two and three," says Tertius Zitzke, managing director, AccTech Systems.
Singh says the implementation was hassle-free. "The consultants from AccTech Systems ensured that the migration from the old system to Softline ACCPAC was successful. This instilled a great sense of confidence in the system among our general staff and management."
According to Singh, SANBI has already experienced numerous benefits even though the implementation is still ongoing. He says monthly processing times have improved, data remains secure and the system reports are now rolled out to all non-finance managers, which is a huge time-saving. Singh says the electronic cashbook reconciliation feature has also sped up the bank reconciliation.
"The system controls regarding staff access rights are very assuring to me as the senior manager sitting away from all the processing action. I am therefore confident that staff cannot easily compromise the system's integrity," concludes Singh.
