The 13th Franchise and Business Opportunities Expo (FBOE) and the 10th Eskom Small Business Development Expo aim to expedite SA`s drive towards entrepreneurship and showcase business and franchise opportunities for start-ups, organisers say.
Both exhibitions are being held at Gallagher Estate and will run from 8 to 11 September.
The Eskom Small Business Development Expo will provide a platform for more than 100 BEE small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to display goods and services, say organisers.
A number of workshops and training sessions presented by local and international industry leaders, consultants and experts have also been touted as part of the expos.
Exhibiting companies will have an opportunity to meet corporate social investment managers and buyers. Potential investors hoping to develop ties between small and big businesses, in a bid to strengthen their BEE procurement efforts are also expected to attend, organisers say.
Opportunities for most sectors, including automotive, retail, building and entertainment will be exhibited, says the FBOE. Organisers say the expo will draw agencies, distributors, financial institutions, business professionals and home business support services.
"In 2004, FBOE attracted 10 905 visitors and our research indicates that most visitors were in the market to create their own opportunities," says Simon Robinson, director of FBOE. He attributes these numbers to the relatively high success rate of franchise businesses and high unemployment levels.
