Leading forensic security company SmartWater Technology is to use SYSPRO from McGuffie Brunton to achieve watertight electronic audit trails and a complete chain of evidence, to help convict burglars caught out by the company's DNA-style security systems.
SmartWater operates a comprehensive crime reduction strategy, which has been successfully implemented by police forces and local authorities across the UK.
The strategy incorporates the use of SmartWater's state-of-the-art forensic products, which are used to permanently mark items of value with a DNA-style forensic owner. SmartWater can also be used to spray intruders as they enter a home or business premises.
The slightest trace of SmartWater is capable of forensically linking a criminal to the crime scene, making it one of the most powerful and longstanding criminal deterrents available. The company's products are also being recognised by more insurance companies, offering reduced premiums for homes and businesses protected by SmartWater systems.
SmartWater Technology is continuing to expand at a phenomenal rate, with its customer base expected to escalate into the millions, highlighting the need for an updated IT system. The firm's management team chose a fully-integrated SYSPRO solution, after determining that its current standalone systems were not scalable enough to provide the rapidly-developing company with the sufficient level of historical data.
SYSPRO is to be installed in a phased approach, starting with customer relationship management, followed by the financials, and then the production modules.
A major consideration in the selection of SYSPRO was the ERP's Lot Traceability module, which traces items from their source to current location while maintaining quality insurance and tracking expiration dates.
Because SmartWater is accepted into the judicial system to present cases to court and secure convictions, it is vital that the Telford-based company proves beyond reasonable doubt that the unique forensic code created, along with the chemical creation processes, are fully-traceable.
Maisy Owen, Customer Services Manager for SmartWater Technology, comments: "Although we have paper-based audit trails at the moment, SYSPRO will provide us with a complete chain of evidence in an electronic format that we can present to court to secure a conviction.
"We are also looking to SYSPRO to ensure our processes run smoother and deliver cost reductions in the amount of materials we use."
