Local snack food company, Simba, has completed a Microsoft Active Directory 2003 roll-out as part of a global implementation being performed by holding company, PepsiCo. Simba was acquired by Frito-Lay, part of PepsiCo, in 1999.
Simba selected IT infrastructure, solutions and services provider, Datacentrix, to implement the project.
"The PepsiCo companies needed the added functionality provided by Active Directory 2003, specifically the improved management capabilities and ease of IT integration," says Thiaan van der Walt, IT Infrastructure Manager at Simba.
The organisation previously ran Windows 2000 and according to Van der Walt, the Active Directory project has brought a number of benefits to Simba`s IT infrastructure, including centralised management and simplification of administration on the network. "Active Directory 2003 also provides us with improved security measures," he continues.
"In addition to providing comprehensive directory services to a Windows environment, Active Directory is designed to be a consolidation point for isolating, migrating, centrally managing and reducing the number of directories that companies require," explains Loren Silverman, account manager at Datacentrix.
"Datacentrix has significant expertise in the Microsoft arena, having assisted many local companies in implementing Microsoft enterprise infrastructure solutions and also providing development and integration capabilities on the Microsoft-based platform."
Datacentrix is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for software products, Microsoft Large Account Reseller and Enterprise Software Advisor.
"Simba have been dealing with Datacentrix for a number of years and throughout our relationship we have been impressed with their level of professionalism," says Van der Walt.
