SAMWUMED, the national accredited and self-administered medical scheme offering the most affordable medical cover for local government employees and related support industries, has partnered with MIP Holdings and Mediscor as its new service providers, effective 1 January 2015.
Mediscor will be responsible for the management of medicine benefits for SAMWUMED's members, while MIP Holdings will provide the back-end system that will allow the medical scheme to effectively manage all areas of administration, from membership and contributions to claims processing.
MIP provides SAMWUMED with a sound administration platform. The scheme currently administers over 92 000 lives countrywide.
"We are extremely pleased to be partnering with SAMWUMED, and are looking forward to expanding our relationship with the scheme. Our solution will allow SAMWUMED to respond to its members' requirements in real-time, and ensure all the information that they need is available to them at their fingertips," says Richard Firth, Chairman and CEO of MIP Holdings.
SAMWUMED's decision to partner with MIP Holdings was the result of a requirement for leading-edge administration procedures, and MIP's expertise in this space made the company the ideal solution provider.
"MIP's system is the perfect fit for our requirements, offering fast and innovative ways for our servicing consultants to provide real-time information and save our members much needed time and money when they need to reach our contact centre," says Neil Nair, Principal Officer at SAMWUMED.
MIP Holdings' software solution will simplify the collection of contributions and payment of benefits to SAMWUMED's members. "We are confident that this system will enable the efficiencies we are looking for, and know that MIP provides extremely high levels of service, since we have used the company as a service provider in the past," added Nair.
The partnership with Mediscor will further enhance SAMWUMED's effectiveness in meeting its members' needs, through the provision of improved pharmaceutical benefit management and authorisation of medicines.
Mediscor's pharmacy benefit management (PBM) system offers a fully-integrated, clinically-intelligent, real-time pharmaceutical claims processing system. The offering includes a wide array of services aimed at ensuring value for money, quality services and good communication.
"As the most frequent touch-point between the scheme and its members, we are aware of the important role we play in delivering service to all parties. We have 25 years' experience in servicing the industry, with a sound track record. We are delighted to be associated with SAMWUMED and to be part of this dynamic team", adds Christo Rademan, MD of Mediscor.
