Sahara recognised for desktop sales, contribution to mobility

Intel Corporation South Africa has presented Sahara with an award for achieving the highest CPU sales and mobile growth through the distribution channel in South Africa.

Sahara, an Intel Premier Provider, has entrenched its position through its brand as an established supplier that has successfully engaged with numerous markets and strengthened its technology integration and distribution portfolio.

"As a local Intel Premier Provider, Sahara has made significant progress by reinforcing its position through its brand and leveraging off strategic approaches to markets, most notably within the mobile space. The company has truly been able to communicate the opportunity around anytime, anywhere computing to a variety of markets including consumer and corporate," says Kamal Vasram, channel field sales engineer, Intel Corporation South Africa.

"Its strength lies in its unequivocal commitment to solution manufacture, branding and system integration, particularly with regard to the mobile PC arena, and being able to transfer this value within a hugely competitive environment," adds Vasram.

Gary Naidoo, deputy MD of Sahara, believes the award, presented to the company at the Intel Solution Summit held recently in Greece, is a great honour and confirms the company has taken the right approach.

"Sahara is proud to be awarded this accolade. We believe our growth in mobile CPUs has been largely through our campaigns with telecommunication companies and the adoption of an aggressive go-to-market campaign on wireless and mobile computing and our increased contribution. The desktop campaign to make PCs more affordable and available to the 'common' man has been met with considerable success," he says.
