Open source software solutions company Obsidian, in conjunction with media partner ITWeb, will host the next Free Beer Session, which will feature presentations from open source experts.

The Free Beer Sessions bring leading local technologists to share their views on the South African open source landscape.

The next event will be held at the Primi Life restaurant in Randpark Ridge on 26 May at 6:30pm.

According to Obsidian, the Free Beer Sessions bring open source enthusiasts and users together to discuss industry trends and network with peers.

The speakers on the night will be Len Weincier, owner and director of GuruHut, and Garren Smith, agile coach and developer at Driven Software.

Weincier is a software architect and consultant with over 20 years of practical development experience. He will talk about modern architecture and how to approach it.

Smith has a strong background in .Net programming, and spends his days working with teams implementing agile methodologies to improve efficiencies. He will discuss the use of open source software tools to power a start-up.
