Queenspark selects DigiPoS Retail Blade for POS system overhaul

Queenspark, one of South Africa`s leading fashion retailers, has opted for DigiPoS Retail Blade technology to replace legacy POS systems in its stores.

With an established store footprint of over 40 stores across South Africa as well as two stores in neighbouring Namibia and Botswana, Queenspark has a solid foothold in South Africa`s premier fashion sector.

According to Fazlin Salie, IT manager for Queenspark, the retailer was experiencing both technical and aesthetic issues with the legacy systems in its stores. Upon evaluating new POS options, Queenspark management saw the clear advantage of the stability, ease of maintenance and expandability factor that the Retail Blade offered. After its review, management selected the Retail Blade for the new store system project.

"The DigiPoS brand has become well recognised in South Africa and one thing we prioritised was to invest in an established product that was well supported locally by the manufacturer," said Salie.

"Specification and scalability of the hardware platform were also important to us," continued Salie.

"Retail Blade provides so many different options and a stable platform without specification changes. This allows us to roll-out the exact same platform over an extended period without much of an issue around our application software image. This made tackling the staggered roll-out a lot easier than having to worry about changes in the motherboard and BIOS every time we ordered a new batch of hardware."

Queenspark has already implemented over 100 Retail Blades and will continue the roll-out, which is due to be completed soon. It has taken 12 months to install the new technology.

The retailer has been experiencing a major increase of uptime and reliability, according to Salie, thus creating a faster and more reliable experience for customers.

After the smooth roll-out, Queenspark will continue to look to the Retail Blade for its future store expansion plans, Salie said.
