Quantum extends data management portfolio
Quantum has unveiled two products designed to offer small businesses improved storage and backup capabilities to help manage ever-growing volumes of data, V3.co.uk reports.
The NDX-8 NAS offers 8TB of storage, and has built-in backup software and de-duplication technology to reduce storage requirements by up to 90%.
The system is based on the Windows Storage Server operating system, so customers can install Windows-based applications like Microsoft Exchange directly on the product, unlike Linux-based NAS devices, the firm said.
According to Market Watch, Quantum also revealed the RDX 8000 removable disk library with 8TB of capacity.
For offsite disaster recovery protection, the NDX can replicate data to a second NDX appliance or move data offsite with the RDX 8000. Both products are also forward compatible with future cloud backup services.
The Inquirer quotes Rob Clark, SVP of disk and tape data protection at Quantum, as saying: "Quantum's new NDX appliances and RDX libraries provide a total data protection solution that is affordable to implement, and simple to use.
“Along with our DXi de-duplication systems, this expansion of our portfolio enables us to offer best-in-class, disk-based technology solutions that address an even broader range of customer data protection needs."
