Sport lifestyle company Puma has implemented Hyperion System 9 to help drive it towards increased flexibility and efficiency as it enters a new development phase of category expansion, regional expansion and non-Puma brand expansion.
Intellient is the exclusive distributor of Hyperion software in southern Africa.
Puma faces a new phase of significant growth to its existing subsidiaries, currently numbered at 50, and needed greater flexibility and agility in its reporting and consolidation capabilities to accommodate increased requirements.
"Puma is committed to maintaining a flexible and efficient organisation that can adapt to the dramatic operational changes that inevitably accompany growth," says Matthias Gerngross, senior group head, international controlling for Puma.
"The Web-based, centralised access to all of the applications that Hyperion offers to our subsidiaries will be a significant factor in helping us meet the increasing reporting demands that will accompany our new strategic phase of growth."
Puma has used Hyperion software over the last five years to manage reporting and consolidation for its subsidiaries.
The Hyperion System 9 solution being implemented is a comprehensive performance management platform that integrates financial management applications with a business intelligence platform into a modular system adaptable to any business need.
"Hyperion System 9 is the result of a three-year initiative to dramatically transform and simplify the way users interact with business intelligence and business performance management software," says Marc Scheepbouwer, MD of Intellient. "This transformation has been accomplished through technical innovations in the Foundation Services layer and the development of Hyperion System 9 BI+ Workspace, the personalised workspace for business performance management."
Hyperion Foundation Services is a scalable, shared services foundation that simplifies systems management, integration and administration across the organisation, enabling the integration of business intelligence technologies and financial management applications into a single, cohesive system. This foundation also offers master data management (MDM) capabilities that empower business users to directly manage complex, rapidly changing master data.
The complete solution enables the anticipated 90 Hyperion users at Puma to link strategies with plans and continuously monitor their execution against goals to improve business agility. Because the system provides a common view into organisational data sources and across management processes, users are empowered to make decisions based on a single reliable perspective.
Scheepbouwer adds: "Hyperion System 9 makes formerly disparate activities such as management and production reporting, advanced analytics, financial reporting, consolidation, planning, scorecarding and strategic modelling accessible through a single, unified workspace. As a result, users are no longer forced to shuffle between applications or sign in and out of separate tools to get answers to their business questions. With Hyperion System 9, Puma can address all of its performance management and query and reporting needs using a single, thin client environment that is personalised and optimised for its specific user needs."
