The Province of Gelderland in the Netherlands has chosen to implement the Cordys Business Operations Platform into its operations. The province will use the platform to design, automate and continually improve complex processes.
Optimal process management is of essential importance to the government in order to keep its service to citizens, businesses and other organisations at the highest possible level. As it involves not only the quality of the service, but also compliance with local, national and European legislation, management and improvement of processes is often complicated and time-consuming.
Theo van Diek, ICT Advisor to the Province of Gelderland: “Within the province, we are increasingly encountering complex processes, in which flexibility and the ability to make adjustments whenever necessary are essential factors. Most standard business process management (BPM) and workflow systems just fall short for this employment. In addition to BPM functionalities, the Cordys platform offers not just an extensive range of possibilities to monitor processes, but also a case management solution. This was the decisive factor for us.”
Standard BPM solutions automate the interaction between people and systems according to a predefined, structured and fixed process. Case management, however, offers the possibility to apply BPM flexibly, allowing employees who are integral to the process to intervene and make changes wherever necessary. This guarantees both the quality of the process and compliance with legislation.
The Province of Gelderland will use the Cordys Business Operations platform for numerous important processes, such as:
* Acting upon reports of poor quality water in swimming pools
* Public, private and European tendering
* Monitoring compliance with legislation
* Improvement of internal operations
Per Jonnson, CEO of Cordys: “Managing and optimising processes within government organisations is a very complex activity in which both people and systems play an important role. Outsiders often greatly underestimate the degree of complexity involved. The Province of Gelderland has shown that it is possible to quickly and effectively carry out political decisions, to conform with legislation on all levels, while simultaneously maintaining a high quality of service. We are happy that we are able to contribute to their efforts with our Cordys platform.”
Mike Rolfe of Cordys Software South Africa: “Cordys can have a major impact on local and central government information technology services in South Africa. The Cordys Software as a Service (SAAS) and Product as a Service (PAAS) offerings could enable centralisation of software solutions and thereby dramatically reduce the cost of maintaining systems and total cost of ownership in the medium and long-term.”
