Paracon broadens focus areas

ICT resourcing and solutions firm Paracon Holdings is moving into the public sector sphere after appointing a senior executive to head up this newly-created division.

The company has appointed Dudu Ngcaba as senior executive of government and parastatal accounts, an appointment that came into effect on 3 January.

Ngcaba says he has been tasked with broadening Paracon's focus areas through penetrating government departments in the areas of project management and quality service through a strategic understanding of problems facing these departments.

He says he will be facilitating the transfer of specialised IT skills, locating suitably skilled staff through the company's other divisions.

Ngcaba, a qualified teacher, spent a decade in the SA Post Office, in its human resources department. As senior manager of HR, his role included employee relations, recruitment, organisational change and training and development for over 18 000 employees.

Government experience

In a statement, Paracon said Ngcaba's experience at the parastatal was one of the reasons the company selected him to head up the division. "We believe his resource knowledge and understanding of the government and parastatal internal structures will benefit the group in selling and managing the service offerings of Paracon."

Ngcaba says Paracon had previously focussed on the private sector, but that he would be extending its reach through consultation with government departments and parastatals.

He says he will be focussed on aiding government in skilling up staff in areas such as project management and quality services - key performance areas within government's IT departments.

Ngcaba, who has been involved with several community organisations in his 28-year work history, has diplomas in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations from Rhodes University and a MBA from the Business School of the Netherlands.
