Computer Faire 2002, held from 21 to 24 May at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, marks a milestone in the history of leading business and consumer electronics company, Panasonic South Africa. Selected as a forum for celebrating the company`s 21st anniversary, the exhibition is the first event at which all the group`s major digital product ranges will be displayed with emphasis on Panasonic`s `Digital Networking` capabilities.
Group managing director Martin Maddox explains that the move reflects Panasonic South Africa`s strategic move towards providing holistic solutions, underwritten by a devotion to understanding the current and future requirements of end-users. "Although our two major trading divisions Panasonic Systems Company and Panasonic Consumer Company are focused on the business and consumer markets respectively, we acknowledge that our clients live and work on both sides of the spectrum," says Maddox. "We have therefore been looking for a suitable platform from which we could reach both audiences. We believe that Computer Faire is the ideal platform for this purpose, as it caters for corporate and individual electronic applications."
Maddox goes on to say that a new corporate exhibition stand has been created with the express purpose of reinforcing the Panasonic brand within the two sectors. Inherently versatile, the stand is equally well suited to industry-specific exhibitions and has already been used to good effect at Frigair 2002 and Securex 2002.
Asked what visitors to Computer Faire can expect to find at the Panasonic exhibition, Maddox replies that the stand will have three main focus areas, each offering live demonstrations of the products on display:
* Office solutions, where Panasonic Systems Company will simulate two distantly-located digital offices to illustrate the digital networking capabilities of its office automation and IT systems, telecommunications, airconditioning and close circuit video equipment;
* Consumer electronics, where Panasonic Consumer Company will demonstrate the latest Panasonic Panache home entertainment lifestyle systems and the new Panasonic Lumix range of digital still cameras along with an exhibition of products that utilise the new, innovative Secure Data (SD) Memory Card technology as a networking medium;
* Broadcast solutions, where Panasonic`s state-of-the-art professional video recording and editing products will be used to film and `broadcast` the live demonstrations on the stand to the exhibition`s visitors.
"Our intention is to give visitors to the Panasonic stand the opportunity to experience our products," says Maddox. "They`ll be able to observe how the various system components work together in real-time; and drench their senses with our home entertainment products. They`ll also be able to experience the convenience and connectivity possibilities of SD technology, first-hand. We believe that this approach will bring to life the marketing themes of our two divisions, while demonstrating the absolute quality inherent in the Panasonic "Quest For Zero Defect" slogan.
"It`s our way of saying thank you to everyone who has supported the Panasonic brand so loyally for the past 21 years while assuring them of our continued commitment to South Africa in the future," he says.
