NokusaEI implements SAP DMS at South African National Blood Service

NokusaEI, the specialist enterprise content management (ECM) consultancy, recently completed the implementation of the SAP document management system at the quality division of the South African National Blood Service (SANBS); where it now provides functionality for the management of quality assurance and administrative documents.

Implementation of the SAP DMS solution was a decision taken by SANBS to further optimise the investment in the SAP solution and to optimise the management of documents in compliance with ISO Quality Management standards.

Due to the extreme importance of quality management systems and documentation in the controlling of human blood products, SANBS has exceptionally exacting requirements of a document management system.

The fact that the SAP DMS met and surpassed all the requirements of SANBS, is a demonstration of the feature rich reliability and robustness of the SAP DMS solution, and the expertise of NokusaEI in implementing it to clients' requirements.

Rajen Soobramoney, National IT Manager of SANBS, stated: "We now have a structured and integrated system to manage all our SOPs, policies, forms etc, with full version control, workflow and electronic approval. Over the coming months, we will be expanding the scope of the implementation to include documents used by other departments within the organisation."

The project was completed by NokusaEI over a very short time period and the NokusaEI team ensured the project was delivered within the SANBS budget. SANBS was very impressed with the professionalism of the NokusaEI implementation team, and intends contracting NokusaEI to continue the roll-out of the SAP DMS to eventually cover all document management requirements of SANBS.

"Moving from a manual paper-based system to electronic media could easily have ended up as the monster from a nightmare. The NokusaEI team listened and translated SANBS requirements into a user-friendly system that provides the required control, with automated workflow notices. Documents are tracked from drafting through approval and issue to the work areas.

"Reviews, revisions and archiving are precise, allowing SANBS the confidence that the DMS will meet all the good governance, statutory and accreditation requirements. The NokusaEI team made it happen," says Walter Willetts, National Quality Systems Manager for SANBS.
