Former communications department director-general and new Dimension Data chairman designate Andile Ngcaba has turned down his nomination for African ICT Achiever of the year award this year.
Ngcaba, who was nominated by several people, was among the candidates short-listed for the award this year.
He has officially told the organisers that he would prefer to step back and allow others a chance to win the award.
Last year, he won a lifetime achiever award at the African ICT Achievers 2003 event, and has won numerous other awards.
The organisers and guest panellists are interviewing short-listed nominees for African ICT Achievers 2004. The winners will be announced at an event next month.
