Newland opens its South African operation

Newland EMEA (Newland Europe BV), a company dedicated to the development and deployment of its parent group core technology, ie, data collection, automatic identification, mobile communication and payment equipment, in the EMEA region, today announced it has opened a South African operation, Newland ID South Africa, based in Linbro Business Park, Johannesburg.

"We are rapidly entering the age of digitalisation, and the move towards the 'Internet of things' (IOT) is also gaining momentum," commented Mauro Mercuri, CEO of Newland ID South Africa. "The current 1D and 2D decoding chip technology that is able to handle all 1D and major 2D bar code symbologies has proven its reliability and viability, thus our focus is on this and the enhancements to this technology that we have done in-house. This allows us to deliver top quality products at a very competitive pricing level, regardless of whether they are finished products and/or the 'internal' engines for incorporation into other OEM products. In the light of this, the establishment of a South African operation that is able to meet the local market requirements in this regard is an opportunity that we didn't want to miss.

"This is an exciting time for our industry and we look forward to playing our part in it going forward," concluded Mercuri.
