Nashua Communications is proud to announce that it is the first organisation on the African continent to have successfully implemented SAP HANA. SAP HANA went live in July, and Nashua Communications has since experienced massive improvements in terms of rapidly accessing insight into its business.
SAP is evolving its in-memory technology with SAP HANA, a flexible, multi-purpose, data source agnostic in-memory appliance. The SAP in-memory computing engine is at the heart of SAP offerings that accelerate an organisation's business performance.
SAP HANA has resulted in Nashua Communications running its Crystal reports much faster and alleviates the traditional database, meaning reports that previously took minutes to process now take seconds.
Darren de Vries, Nashua CIO, explains how the enterprise search has improved the way the business accesses relevant information in real time: "The enterprise search is fantastic! All users can now find any relevant data or transactional information based on a 'Google-like' search very quickly. This saves tens of seconds per query, and with 286 users executing many queries a day, the benefit is huge."
Nashua Communications previously used SAP R/3 as its ERP system. However, following the breakaway from Siemens, the company subsequently changed its name to Nashua Communications, and implemented the SAP Business One platform in April 2010. Nashua Communications has been using Business One for over two years now.
SAP provides Nashua Communications with interactive analysis, which gives users access to relevant information directly in Excel pivots in which they are already comfortable. This gives them the required confidence to generate their own reporting content, making them less dependent on consultants or power users. In addition, the real-time replication ensures all reports have up-to-the-second information and therefore enables accurate decision-making.
According to De Vries, Nashua Communications users are realising the benefits of high-speed response time on live data. "We run a 24/7/365-day service desk operation and are bound by strict service level agreements (SLAs) that demand rapid resolution times. With HANA, we now have access to information in real time and this has enabled us to manage and respond to those SLAs more effectively."
De Vries adds that Nashua Communications' goal is to make SAP Business One and HANA the heart of the company. Nashua Communications believes that, through SAP HANA and Business One, it can provide service to its customers and help address problems faster than ever before.
"There is a perception in South Africa that good service is not easy to come by. SAP HANA helps put us ahead of our competitors because we can deliver service immediately. We can differentiate ourselves from our competitors with the help of HANA to deliver a superior level of service and we believe that we have a bright future ahead of us."
