Metrologic Instruments has released its first Windows-based data capture and communications terminal, the SP5700 OptimusPDA, to the EMEA marketplace, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Metrologic Instruments GmbH in Germany, Retail Technology News reports.

The OptimusPDA comes in a lightweight design, which offers either 1D laser or 2D imaging scan engines for bar code data collection. The SP5700 can be configured with multiple wireless options including Bluetooth, WLAN (802.11b/g) and GSM-GPRS.

Robert Hurt, Metrologic's EMEA marketing director, commented: "The PDA provides a platform for a huge range of applications, from the warehouse to the delivery personnel on the road, and on to the end-user, whether in the retail, postal, governmental or industrial arena."

Coupons brings Clip to retailers

Coupons, a provider of consumer-printed coupon marketing and technology solutions, has commenced a suite of Web services called Clip. These enable destination Web sites to integrate coupon and related promotional content into their sites, reports TMCnet News

The new offering enables retailers to build rich promotional applications to reach demographics across the grocery, health and beauty, and general retail sectors.

Andy Robinson, founder of Grocery Shopping Network, which is using Clip to connect Coupons to 12.5 million households across nearly 1 000 grocery stores, says: "We have been using the Coupons system to integrate printable coupons with grocery retailer Web sites for years. The Clip service now allows us to add more functionality."
