McAfee secures Defence EA

McAfee announced a $9.7 million services agreement with Northrop Grumman Information Systems for fielding and deployment of the Host Based Security System (HBSS), an extensive security solution for the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network, reports Trading Markets.

McAfee says its Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) is the underlying technology and an integral component of the Defense Information Systems Agency's HBSS solution, which monitors, detects, and counters against known cyber threats to the department of defence's (DOD) enterprise architecture.

Under the agreement, McAfee will deploy the HIPS solution which provides desktops, servers and laptops across the DOD with its signature and behavioural protection, and a system firewall.

Northrop bags two EA deals

Northrop Grumman has won deals to provide IT services to the US department of homeland security (DHS) and PSC, says InformationWeek.

Valued at $46 million, Northrop will provide DHS with services designed to enhance the agency's ability to communicate information across its immigration and customs enforcement unit.

Awarded under the federal government's 'enterprise architecture gateway for leading edge solutions' (Eagle) IT services contract vehicle, Northrop says it would deploy IT industry best practices, including the ITIL framework and an integrated knowledge management database, on behalf of PSC.

University selects EA Advisory Group

The Confiance Group announced its selection to Penn State University's newly formed Enterprise Architecture Advisory Group, allowing the formation of an enterprise architecture degree programmes and research centre at the university, reports Business Wire.

“The opportunity to collaborate with leading industry organisations and Penn State is an ideal platform to deliver the true potential of enterprise architecture, through education of the current leadership and training the future knowledge worker,” says Navin Maganti, vice-president of Global Business Transformation, Confiance Group.

The Enterprise Architecture Advisory Group's goal is the creation of undergraduate and graduate degrees in enterprise architecture. The group members are tasked with providing guidance on the formation of an enterprise architecture-focused research centre and professional development programmes to ensure students receive a real-world understanding of enterprise business and technology.
