Low-cost airline Mango, launched in October last year, has contracted mid-market ERP solutions provider Lorge to supply, install and commission a Windows-based Accpac ERP 200 accounting software system.
While the Accpac accounting software has already been installed and gone live, Lorge has also been commissioned to develop customised interface software that will transfer details of bookings, flight manifests and credit card payments from an existing database directly into Accpac.
Riekie Roux, managing consultant for Lorge's Accpac business unit, says the interface software being written by Lorge software developers will enable full integration of passenger and operational information with the accounting software. The interface is scheduled to go live at the end of March.
"Major benefits for Mango include the provision to management of real-time information on bookings and the expected income and profitability of every flight and route," said Roux, adding that management can access this information at any time.
Mango operates new generation Boeing B737-800 aircraft and currently flies between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban as well as between Bloemfontein, Durban and Cape Town. It facilitates ticket-less travel with online bookings, seat and itinerary confirmation and special rate car hire bookings on its Web site.
