Mid-market ERP solutions provider Lorge has won a contract to supply, install and implement a Sage Accpac 200 ERP (formerly Corporate Edition) financial software system for Germiston-based Telemed, a private open medical aid scheme.
Lorge principal consultant Jaco Havenga said Telemed had decided to convert to a new dedicated medical aid scheme administration software application which, unlike its original system, has no built-in accounting functionality.
"Some of the Telemed employees have previous experience with Accpac, so this was a factor in determining the best solution. However, our ability to seamlessly integrate their medical scheme application software into the Accpac back office accounting program using our Acctivity Integration Manager product, was a strong influence on the decision to use Accpac."
Havenga added that the new accounting solution will streamline and automate the accounting process across the Telemed operation, resulting in improved control and enhanced data integrity. Data will be updated daily and management reports on critical aspects of the business can be generated or accessed on demand.
Medical scheme administration application software is complex and the major challenge for the Lorge team was the integration and seamless transfer of supplied extracts from the application software program into Accpac`s general ledger.
Telemed is a long-established operation, having formerly been a closed medical scheme dedicated to employees of Telkom, SA Post Office and the Department of Communications. As a private open scheme, it now focuses on providing accessible and affordable healthcare through well-managed healthcare facilities, resources, services and funding mechanisms to communities throughout South Africa.
