Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS) has upgraded its Accpac accounting software solution with the installation of a Stock Module and Norming Asset Management Tracking software installed and implemented by Lorge Botswana.
A leading financial and accounting software supplier and implementer of Accpac ERP, Accpac CRM and Sage ERP X3 solutions, Lorge Botswana serves a large Accpac client base in the country.
Denzil Moorcroft, business development manager for Lorge Botswana, said the Stock Module includes internal issues, purchase orders and inventory control to manage stock while the assets of BURS, including land and buildings, motor vehicles, computing and related electronic equipment, furniture, fixtures and fittings, will be controlled and tracked with the Norming Asset Tracking Module.
BURS is a parastatal formed by the merger of two government departments, namely the Department of Taxes and the Department of Customs and Excise, that were previously responsible for collecting tax revenue in Botswana.
It is undergoing a transformation in terms of a strategic plan with major objectives to be achieved by 2014.
The main goals are to set up systems that will improve taxpayer compliance while also providing taxpayers with high quality services.
Revenue modelling and forecasting, process re-engineering, tax registration processes and development of BURS human resources are involved. It will also include improving the quality of service delivery through a customer service charter and the integration of standalone processes and systems.
