Mid-market ERP solutions provider Lorge has won a contract to supply and implement a SAP Business One full ERP financial and accounting software solution for Dozer, a Johannesburg company specialising in the supply of new, used and rebuilt parts and components for Caterpillar heavy earthmoving equipment.
Located at Sebenza, Dozer keeps large quantities of spares for trucks, excavators, loaders, graders and other heavy earthmoving equipment used by major mining houses, government departments, construction and civil engineering companies, plant hire companies and other earthmoving concerns in southern Africa and abroad.
Formed 24 years ago, Dozer is a privately owned company committed to expanding its business into Africa and abroad.
Ursula Saffy of Lorge`s SAP Business One corporate sales division says the SAP ERP solution includes general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, a service module to track warranties and enquiries, financials, fully integrated CRM functionality and production and material requirements planning which will manage sales orders, control stockholdings and facilitate rapid response to customer enquiries.
"The Dozer processes are highly complex as a single part may have three or even four variations against its stock code depending on whether it is new, used, rebuilt or on exchange, and there are also different makes of used and rebuilt plant. The SAP solution will streamline the sales process and automate transactions that, because of the variations on a single part or component code, are currently done manually."
The system is due to go live during March 2007.
"We believe in the growth potential of Africa and are committed to many more years in the industry here in South Africa and abroad. Hence our investment in this ERP software solution that will improve operating efficiency, inventory tracking and control, services and customer relationship management," said Bradley Wright, manager of IT and marketing at Dozer.
"The SAP Business One software is customisable and this is a feature that strongly appeals to us. Staff will be going on SAP certification courses so that we can customise, manage and support the system in-house."
