Kawena Distributors, the Wadeville-based supplier of products and delivery services to Mozambican nationals contracted to work in South Africa`s gold, platinum and coal mines, has placed an order with mid-market ERP solutions provider Lorge to supply, install and commission a Microsoft Dynamics NAV accounting software solution.
Since 1987, Kawena Distributors has sold a wide variety of goods ranging from washing powders to bags of cement to Mozambican mineworkers in South Africa.
Through its transport division, together with a large fleet of sub-contracted transporters, Kawena ensures that the goods purchased are delivered to the Mozambique destination stipulated by the buyer.
The service operates from 27 branches and agencies located throughout South Africa. A sales team of more than 100 representatives and agents provides sales and services at the mines. The goods are delivered to a network of 15 warehouses throughout the Maputo, Gaza and Inhambane Provinces in Mozambique. There is also a large trans-shipment warehouse of 6 0000m2 in Machava with a private rail siding and overhead gantries.
Neels du Plooy, general manager of Lorge`s Dynamics division, said the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0 accounting software is designed to handle large volumes of orders.
"The 4.0 version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV has wide functionality that meets the demands of supply chain management. It will improve overall control of the business process by enabling the whole process from order placement and payment to final collection to be tracked and managed."
Microsoft Dynamics NAV integrates critical financial, operations, customer, distribution, and e-commerce data into a streamlined, comprehensive solution for growing mid-sized businesses.
Du Plooy said the package is easy to use and maintain and is also fully customisable. "By implementing remote connectivity, Kawena branches will be able to place orders directly within Microsoft Dynamics NAV, thus improving efficiency, and replacing legacy systems. "
