Major music, movies, entertainment, digital music and games retail group Look & Listen has invested R1.8 million in a Softline Accpac Retail Management System (RMS) solution operating with an Accpac ERP 500 back office financial and accounting installation at its Illovo headquarters.
The RMS installation includes 252 tills and facilitates inter-branch transfers (IBTs), point-of-sale (POS), goods received (GR), purchase order projections (POP) and price management (PM).
The 17 Look & Listen Stores in major shopping centres countrywide and 32 Jive City outlets will run offline and synchronise as required.
The 20-user Accpac financial and operations software suite includes an Accpac Insight business intelligence module for reporting and "dashboard" to deliver the right information at the right time in the right format for enlightened business decisions.
An Accpac CRM (customer relationship management) module for retention marketing, business analytics and the administration of loyalty programmes is also being installed as a second phase.
Look & Listen Chief Executive Darren Levy said the Accpac purchase order projections functionality, which is currently being facilitated through custom in-house systems, is a significantly helpful feature of the Accpac RMS solution.
"There is considerable variance in the tastes of our customer base from store to store in so far as music or movie genres are concerned. Now we have the ability to accurately order, replenish and monitor how stock is moving at every individual store and adjust our inventory accordingly. This is of great value to us."
Softline Accpac director strategic sales Keith Fenner said Look & Listen had been influenced in its selection of Accpac RMS by the fact that the solution is locally developed but owned and supported by a long-established international software group.
"Look & Listen was also impressed by the pace at which the product is being enhanced on an ongoing basis and by its speed and powerful functionality. Accpac RMS is more than just a retail solution, it adds up to a full-blown retail management system."
Karl Wagner, general manager of Accpac RMS, said the central buying and review of stock is crucial for an organisation such as Look & Listen where a wide variety and large amount of inventory is held. "The ability to centrally view all stock on a daily basis, track purchase history, order replacement stock as well as shift stock from one branch to another when necessary, is crucial. The quicker stock turns over the better. RMS offers the business the ability to monitor and streamline this complex process."
