Reshaad Sha, CEO of Liquid Telecom South Africa, has resigned from the company after two years.

Sha was appointed CEO on 1 June 2018, to oversee growth and development of digital services and the rollout of enhanced network services for enterprises and consumers across South Africa.

In a statement this afternoon, Liquid Telecom confirmed that Sha has officially resigned from his position.

Ahmed Mokhales, chief operating officer at Liquid Telecom, says: “Reshaad joined the business at a time when we needed a strong leader to execute the turnaround strategy for Liquid Telecom South Africa very quickly. This wouldn’t have been possible without his determination and perseverance.”

Sha will undertake a handover process until the end of August to Dr Craig Van Rooyen, chief operating officer LTSA who will lead the business in SA in the interim, the company says.

Before joining Liquid Telecom, Sha previously worked as CEO of SqwidNet, an open access Internet of things network operator, and as chief strategy officer and executive director of Dark Fibre Africa, an open access fibre-optic company.

He has also worked in management positions in a variety of tech and telecoms companies, including Cisco and LogicaCMG.

During his tenure at Liquid Telecom, Sha oversaw the company's complete rip-and-replace of its network and it can now deliver 10-times more connectivity across its customer base, with additional vertical services.

Among other highlights, Liquid Telecom also launched “the first 5G wholesale roaming service in South Africa” earlier this year.

According to reports, Sha is moving to head up a new artificial intelligence venture called BriteGaze.
