LG Electronics has introduced its ultra-slim ultra-light 13.3-inch premium notebook P300 series. This range of notebooks is targeted at the performance- and style-conscious business professionals and younger generation who are constantly on the move.
The 13.3-inch screen featured in the notebook displays text some 10% larger than the standard 12.1-inch screen and weighs a mere 1.65kg.
"The P300 underlines LG's increasing emphasis on creating products that are design-led and functional. As this new product brings together a slim and light design with high portability, ease of use, and top-notch performance, it is clearly the right choice for the active business professionals of today," says Shane Kennedy, sales manager for LG Electronics IT Division.
Another characteristic that sets the P300 apart is that it is a reworking of the Reddot Design Prize-winning Black and White design. The laptop is crafted with an exceptional black rose pattern, while the brim is made with an aluminium material. Making use of metal hairline, the cover is in perfect harmony with the design of the wrist support area of the keyboard. The cover is offered in two colours: Black Rose and Dark Red Rose.
The P300 is not just for looks; it lives up to its reputation in the performance area as well. It boasts an NvidiaGeforce8600M graphics chip, 4GB DDR2 memory, and a 250GB SATA type hard disk drive, all on top of a 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor.
And with the maximum 6MB L2 cache, the entire performance of the laptop was taken to a new level. The HD Boost technology at work in the Penryn shows its remarkable power in high-def picture and video encoding and editing.
The P300 also boasts turbo memory and a 135Mbps wireless LAN its HDD and wireless functions have been significantly improved. Particularly, considering the growing HD environment, the more costly LED back-light LCD seemed to be the right choice for the P300 series. In this way, compared to a standard LCD, the brightness was increased to 270 nits and the contrast ratio was raised to 450:1, an increase of 30% in each area, which brings with it a clearer screen for 3D gaming, video and picture viewing.
As the P300 can be connected to any PC or notebook in the vicinity by way of a standard USB cable, transfer of large quantities of data is a breeze and even in instances where there is no ODD (optical digital disk) usage of a nearby PC's ODD is possible. On top of this, with its realistic sound reproducing Surround System (SRS) 3-watt (1.5w per channel) high-output stereo speakers and 1.3 megapixel Web cam, the notebook is the perfect mobile entertainment machine.
The LG P300 notebook is available at all major consumer electronics retail outlets priced at R12 599 including VAT and comes with one-year international warranty.
