The largest micro lending company in Botswana, Micro Provident Botswana Limited, trading as Letshego, has contracted business and financial software reseller and solutions provider Lorge to install an ACCPAC Enterprise for Windows Advantage Series 5.3 accounting software system, provide a tailor-made software integration solution and support services.
Listed on the domestic companies index (DCI) of the Botswana Stock Exchange, Letshego`s core business is to provide short and medium-term loan products to government and parastatal employees with repayments obtained through payroll deductions. It also provides legal insurance services and products to help clients keep pace with rising legal costs.
Lorge sales manager Neels du Plooy said a key aspect of the solution is the installation of Acctivity Integration Manager software to automate and integrate the transfer of loans and payroll deduction data into the ACCPAC accounting back office system.
"The very nature of the business means that the Letshego accounts structure is highly complex and over and above the core General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Cashbook modules, the ACCPAC solution also includes System Manager, Fixed Assets and Multi-currency, the latter being essential to support Letshego`s future expansion plans."
Future development plans for Letshego, which has a market capitalisation of 600 million pula (about R720 million) include a commitment to exploring consumer lending opportunities in other African countries and other initiatives to diversify the company`s earnings base.
The new accounting and integration software system is due to be fully commissioned by the end of the year.
