Lenovo enters server market

Lenovo has released servers featuring Intel's processor technology, reports Echannelline.

Lenovo enters the server market with the ThinkServer line which is geared towards small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that don't have dedicated IT staff to set up and manage a server environment.

The ThinkServer line is intended to complement Lenovo's other SME desktop and notebook computer offerings, including the new ThinkPad SL series of notebooks.

Microsoft's S+S targets SMEs

Microsoft has released a new wave of software as a service called Software plus Services (S+S) in Indonesia, says The Jakarta Post.

S+S software is run and managed by third-party providers, with some software residing on servers and desktop PCs located on the SME's premises.

With the new software, SMEs will be able to keep costs down as there will be no need to build their own data centre or hire a high-salaried IT manager.
