Landmark new products from Printronix incorporate TallyGenicom technology

Johannesburg, 22 Jul 2011

Since acquiring the assets of TallyGenicom in 2009, Printronix has focused on integrating this technology into its range of high-speed, low-cost printing solutions.

The announcement of a new generation of TallyGenicom Line Matrix Printers, including the 6600 family, represents the culmination of these efforts and gives industries access to products that deliver where high speed and reliability are the central criteria.

That's according to Ruan Steenkamp, product manager at South African distributor Printacom.

“This next generation brings the benefits of improved reliability, productivity and environmental advantages,” Steenkamp says. “In effect, this represents the value that Printronix saw in TallyGenicom, which is now applied in an all-new product set in the 6600 series.”

Since environmental responsibility is today a prerequisite for all new products, he stresses that all models in this new family of machines are Energy Star qualified, while they are fully compatible, direct replacements for earlier TallyGenicom printers. Ease of use also receives close attention, with these machines designed to integrate into workflow environments with minimal effort.

It is in industries like banking and manufacturing, warehousing, shipping and distribution centres that the TallyGenicom 6600 series by Printronix is designed to deliver. The range includes the 6600Q Cabinet, 6600 Open Pedestal, 6600 Quiet Pedestal and 6600Z Zero Tear models, providing users with durability and print quality to ensure no interruptions to essential business processes.

Steenkamp says the machines are available in speeds including 500, 1 000, 1 500 and 2 000 lines per minute. “Flexible configuration options allows for customisation of each 6600 model to suit individual requirements,” he adds.

The 6600 TallyGenicom by Printronix range of line matrix printers comprises:

* 6600Q Cabinet
Configured in a fully enclosed sound reduction cabinet with access from the front and rear, the 6600Q is an industrial printer ideal for noise-sensitive areas.

* 6600 Open Pedestal
A dependable workhorse line matrix printer, this is the foundation of the 6600 product family, built for harsh environments such as loading docks, machine shops and factories.

* 6600 Quiet Pedestal
With a compact footprint, the 6600 Quiet Pedestal is a quiet, versatile, dependable pedestal-style printer for use in an office with space limitations.

* 6600Z Zero Tear
This specialised printer handles multi-part forms that require single form tear off usability. The 6600Z minimises waste of expensive forms such as pre-printed tickets and serialised documents.

Steenkamp says the 6600 family includes time-saving tools to enhance the user experience, including the Printnet Suite of Tools for remote print management from anywhere in the world.

“The release of this product line, which includes technology and engineering from TallyGenicom, combined with Printronix intellectual property, is a milestone for the organisation. More than that, it makes available a range of high-performance line printing solutions to meet the most demanding requirements reliably and at low cost,” he concludes.
