John C Lincoln Hospitals expects to achieve a 365% return on investment (ROI) in a four-year period with Lumension Security`s Sanctuary endpoint security software, the industry`s only solution to offer unified policy enforcement for centrally managing and monitoring device and application use on corporate PCs, laptops and servers.
The commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Lumension, entitled: "The Total Economic Impact of Lumension Security`s Sanctuary Application and Device Control" finds that Sanctuary decreases John C Lincoln`s exposure to data leakage and malware, improves end-user productivity and reduces the cost of re-imaging or upgrading corporate machines.
The study also concludes that Sanctuary will save John C Lincoln nearly $500 000 over the same four-year period.
Forrester Consulting found that by using Sanctuary, organisations can realise qualitative benefits in the following categories:
* Reduced effort required by the IT staff to enforce security policy;
* Reduced cost and effort to maintain, repair, and upgrade computers;
* Reduced number of new computers that need to be purchased each year;
* Reduced risk/cost of "data leakage", sensitive information being taken out on USB drives and other mobile storage devices;
* Reduced risk/cost of accidental or intentional malware introduction;
* Improved quality of life for the IT staff due to fewer late-night emergencies;
* Improved image of the IT department, as they can now provide more services with a quicker response time across the entire healthcare system; and
* Increased user productivity from improved computer uptime and performance, thanks to the prevention of access to non-work related applications.
"Before we deployed Sanctuary, each of our workstations represented a threat vector for either malware introduction or data leakage. This not only put our organisation at risk, but also created a significant amount of work for our IT team as we were forced to react to every incident," said Rob Israel, CIO of John C Lincoln Hospitals.
"With Sanctuary`s unique device and application control, not only were we able to automatically enforce endpoint security policies, but we were also able to improve customer response time and decrease wasted support. We anticipate that our ROI for Sanctuary will continue to increase and keep our endpoints safe from both existing and future threats."
John C Lincoln Hospitals to achieve ROI of 365% in a four-year period
John C Lincoln Hospitals, based in Phoenix, is a not-for-profit organisation with more than 3 500 employees and more than 1 400 affiliated physicians. In 2005, John C. Lincoln was searching for a solution that would ensure that all 750 approved applications - across 2 500 computers w ere properly installed, did not have any software conflicts and would monitor for the installation of unapproved applications and files. The IT staff also needed a way to control the use of removable storage media to prevent the removal of classified information.
Lumension`s Sanctuary provided John C Lincoln with an unparalleled level of protection from data threats - including data leakage, malware and spyware - and policy enforcement for approved applications and devices. Sanctuary also assists with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliance. To protect from data threats, Lumension leverages its Positive Security Model, which offers unified policy enforcement for centrally managing and monitoring application and device control proactively from a single console.
"The Forrester TEI study reinforces the cost savings and the level of security of Lumension`s solutions," said Patrick Clawson, chairman and CEO of Lumension Security. "Building on the Positive Security Model, our recent acquisitions and our new corporate direction are designed to help customers like John C Lincoln achieve significant ROI through our integrated solutions that are easy to use and manage while lowering the total cost of ownership."
