Internet Solutions selects Aastra

Hosted telephony services benefit from flexible and feature-rich Aastra SIP phones.

Aastra is proud to announce that its 67xxi range of SIP phones will form part of Internet Solutions' (IS) managed Hosted IP PBX (HIP) service.

The initial service offering will be available to all customers, both large and small, with distributed networks, SME and SOHO sites. IS has also introduced free on-net company calls countrywide when clients sign up for the hosted IP PBX service and use IS to terminate outgoing calls.

The Aastra 67xxi series of SIP phones were tested and compared with various SIP phones from multiple vendors and were selected based on their ease of use, competitive pricing, not to mention their extended and rich user feature set.

Currently only the Aastra SIP 6757i will be used to pioneer the new IS service due to its advanced capabilities and cost-effectiveness. IS has identified a roadmap of more Aastra phones that will be introduced.

The Aastra 67xxi SIP phones allow for customer solutions to be tailored to specific end-user requirements through customisable interfaces and menus. In addition, the Aastra 67xxi SIP phones also enable Internet Solutions to continuously develop new commercial offerings in the cloud and then push them down to their customers.

The Aastra 67xxi SIP phones support advanced call features such as Busy Lamp Field (BLF), Device Feature Key Sync, Enterprise Directory Lookup, and many more features that have allowed Internet Solutions to develop another world-class offering within the South African market.

Depending on the feature offering selected, the end-user will be able to either provision himself or just simply allow Internet Solutions to auto-configure the Aastra 67xxi SIP phone.

Combined with the Aastra Redirection Service, “Zero Touch” deployments are now a reality. “To enable the Aastra SIP 67xxi on the Internet Solutions HIP service is as easy as plugging in an analogue phone,” says Wayne Speechly, General Manager of Voice Solutions at Internet Solutions.

Enabled by the XML browser inherent in the Aastra 67xxi SIP phones, the device is able to provide access to server side speed dial lists and personal/corporate directories, as well as control advanced platform features from solutions such as BroadSoft Anywhere, directly from the phone.

From an operational perspective, Internet Solutions is able to offer a commercial solution, which reduces costs associated with inter-company calls to geographically segmented or decentralised components of its clients' organisations. It is possible for customers to remove costs associated with calls between branches from their operating budget completely, as all calls between branches utilising VOIS (voice over IS) will be free of charge. Speechly says: “We have spoken to a number of our customers and this solution fits well with their technology, financial and management outsourcing requirements. Aastra is a critical portion of this solution that enables this offering. Customers thus far have expressed huge excitement in the solution. The first touch point for end-users is of course the IP phone.”
