Asset management solution provider Knowledge Focus is to exhibit its internationally acclaimed enterprise search and categorisation solutions at the CI for Innovation Conference (www.ci-innovation.org) to be held on 26 and 27 May at the Volkswagen Conference Centre in Midrand.
"The conference is the ideal forum to showcase our offering as it brings together the world`s foremost industry and innovation leaders who, like ourselves, believe that knowledge is one of the key economic drivers for a sustainable future," says Knowledge Focus managing director Piet Dempsey.
"Innovation is key to remaining competitive and in today`s world where businesses struggle to maintain an edge over their competitors, the effective use of knowledge is essential in taking innovative thinking to the next level."
Presented by IBIS, in partnership with the North-West University, the University of Johannesburg and the Tshwane University of Technology, the CI for Innovation conference is geared to highlighting the role that competitive intelligence (CI) plays in stimulating innovation for competitiveness.
"The conference aims to stimulate thinking and accelerate actions on how to put innovation into practice," says IBIS director Mari'e-Luce Muller. "Presenters - who rank among the best in local and international business arenas - will draw on their practical experience to provide delegates with the best possible understanding of CI, innovation and practical applications thereof."
Day one will feature various workshops and an academic conference-within-a-conference where academia will discuss and consider the way forward and the role of tertiary institutions in promoting CI and innovation. The day will end with an informal cocktail where delegates will be able to meet and network with the speakers, fellow delegates and other invited guests.
Day two is the main day of the conference and will feature 12 presentations by leading South African and international innovators, CI practitioners and business leaders. It will conclude with a panel discussion at which the discussions and events of the conference will be reviewed.
Speakers on these two days include Dr Johan van Zyl, President and CEO of Toyota South Africa, and Dr Melanie Louw, senior manager research and information at ABI, as well as international guests Prof Craig S Fleisher, president of the Society of Competitive Professionals (SCIP), and Arik Johnson, MD and CEO of Aurora WDC, US.
Today`s knowledge workers spend too much time looking for information," says Dempsey. "The intelligent retrieval of information is the beginning of knowledge and is essential for competitive innovation. Events such as the CI for Innovation conference play an integral role in helping organisations hone their competitive capabilities."
