Well-known local jewellery designer Jenna Clifford, owner of Jenna Clifford (Pty) Ltd, which houses established brands Jenna Clifford Fine Jewellery and Renaissance Jenna Clifford, has selected network integration specialist Integr8 IT to install full networking infrastructure, including Active Directory services, and provide reliable uptime and effective branch connectivity for file sharing and administration purposes.
Integr8 IT has perfected a business model based on decisive evaluation of a client`s existing IT infrastructure and future requirements based on critical needs. The company has adapted its model to benefit any sized operation within numerous vertical and horizontal markets.
"Key requirements for Jenna Clifford included dependability, server and network uptime as well as branch connectivity for file sharing and administration purposes," explains Kyle Jerome, network engineer at Integr8 IT. "The company was running Small Business Server 4.5 and wanted to implement Active Directory along with scalable, robust networking infrastructure."
Jenna Clifford runs two independent networking sites - one in Johannesburg and one in Pretoria, and due to the services of Integr8 IT, was able to improve levels of connectivity and diginet services.
"Our core business is client relationship marketing and we rely on our networking infrastructure to manage the customer-centric aspects of our business including intranets, database and e-commerce tools," comments Dirk Uys, Financial Manager at Jenna Clifford. "From the outset, Integr8 IT has displayed a high level of technical expertise and dedication to this project. They were brought in to improve our networking and IT capability and we are already experiencing the benefits."
Network engineers at Integr8 IT implemented Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 to facilitate all applications and structures, including Active Directory, SQL Server, Exchange 2003 for mail as well as firewall protection through ISA Server 2000.
"In terms of connectivity, our choice was to implement ADSL. The only concern was direct mail delivery to the server, but this was resolved by using dynamic DNS. Branch connectivity was incorporated through diginet lines that enabled users to be a part of the Active Directory and receive e-mail from the server without any slow delivery," adds Jerome.
"We also implemented RPC over HTTPS on the exchange server so that users can check mail over a secure connection remotely. Due to the threat of viruses we completed a full roll-out of Computer Associates eTrust Inoculate 7.0 through the network. Brightstor 11 has also been implemented as the backup solution due to its efficiency and reliability."
