Software testing firm Inspired Testing, part of the Dynamic Technologies group, launched an international training institution in August 2021 and has opened registration for four new courses starting in early 2022 to its global client base.

Bas Dijkstra, newly appointed Director of the Inspired Academy, says their global positioning reflects the new reality of the software testing training landscape where remote working and learning are the norm, and where many firms in Europe, the UK, the USA and South Africa are experiencing a severe shortage of technology skills.

Inspired Academy’s goal is to provide first-class software testing and automation training skills for Inspired Testing employees and for their global customer base. This move into new markets will provide comprehensive skills development that keeps up with global software trends and business demands.

The new courses, which will be hosted online by the Academy using remote platforms, are targeted at different skillsets and experience levels. They include:

  • Introduction to programming, aimed at modern testers, covering the basics of object-orientated programming, and including hands on exercises.
  • Advanced automation, aimed at test automation professionals, is a deep dive into core concepts and principles of software development and test automation.
  • API testing, aimed at testing professionals, providing advanced skills in application programming interfaces.
  • Behaviour-driven development (BDD) for teams, available to corporate groups, and introducing teams to a new way of working using BDD principles and techniques.

Dijkstra, who is based in the Netherlands, joined Inspired Testing with 15 years’ experience as a test automation consultant, improving testing efforts through the smart use of tools. He says: “My experience covers everything from building and maintaining test automation solutions that work to creating and implementing test automation strategies across teams and organisations.”

Dijkstra says the Academy is a response to the major need for companies having to constantly improve their online offerings to compete in a fast-growing market. “This means skilled testers and developers must update their skills to remain relevant and employable. It’s a perfect storm of huge demand and low supply, creating opportunities for those in the field to sharpen their skills and advance their careers.”

The Inspired Academy courses for individuals take place weekly and span several months, ensuring time for knowledge transfer and practising new skills. The courses for teams are run on a similar basis, as and when the team members are available.

Dijkstra says several additional courses will be offered in the first half of 2022, and the Academy will continue to expand content delivery and curriculums as needed by its target market.
