Imulus intros task management app
Imulus has introduced Stacks, an intuitive Web application for group task management, designed to quickly visualise workload using a simple interface, reports PRNewswire.
It solves the problem of task assignment and workload balancing without the need to refer to Gantt charts. The company says Stacks reduces e-mail and improves team accountability.
"Stacks grew out of our need to juggle a multitude of client requests on a daily basis," says George Morris, Imulus co-founder. "Existing project management tools were too complex and confusing, so we built our own.”
PM back in demand
Around 650 project and programme managers are expected to descend on Melbourne for the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Global Congress - just as demand for IT project managers is again on the march in Australia, writes iTWire.
According to IT recruiters, project management skills are again being sought as companies take the dust-covers off projects shelved during the worst of the global financial crisis. The roll-out of the national broadband network is expected to drive additional demand.
Mark Langley, vice-president and chief operating officer of PMI, says: “Project managers were impacted, but possibly not as much as people would have expected. Organisations have learned from previous downturns that you cannot stop R&D because eventually you come out (of downturns) behind the competition.”
Acumen manages US health project
The US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health IT, has selected Acumen Solutions to provide a cloud-computing customer relationship and project management solution, according to TMCnet.
To support the nationwide upgrade of the health IT infrastructure, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has allocated funding for medical providers to deploy electronic health record (EHR) systems. The ONC has been given the task of encouraging the adoption of health IT and has to promote nationwide health information exchange to improve healthcare.
ONC is developing a network of regional extension centres to 'effectively' distribute available grants into the market, which will provide regionalised support to medical providers for the selection and deployment of an EHR solution. In order to track, manage and report on this effort, Acumen Solutions plans to implement a cloud computing CRM and project management solution from Salesforce.com.
