Specialist Internet solutions company I-Group has decided to follow international best practice by outsourcing its mobile technology requirements to an aggregator WASP (wireless application service provider).
"By using Mira Networks to enable its mobile opportunity, I-Group customers experienced no loss of connectivity to the cellular networks in the changeover from in-house SMS solutions management to management by an aggregator," said Marc Seymour, Managing Director of I-Group.
Importantly for a growing business, using a mobile aggregator enables future upward scalability. "Scalability and reliability are often touted by mobile service providers but rarely delivered. Dedicated account managers and a massive investment in technology means that Mira has an impressive turnaround time and the ability to deliver across multiple GSM bearers," said Mira Networks Director Sean Conde.
Specialising in the development of advanced interactive systems for the Linux platform, I-Group provides high end, low cost solutions to companies requiring a technology partner. I-Group delivers high-impact internet sites using the latest technology to captivate and retain your audience. Services include design and development, hosting and email, e-commerce, content management and SMS solutions powered by Mira Networks.
"I-Group wanted to focus on our core business as a specialist Internet solutions company but at the same time we wanted to offer our clients the widest range of services available and this included SMS solutions. Add this to the fact that dealing directly with the cellular networks is complicated and time-consuming, and you have a compelling case in aggregation," added Mr Seymour.
Mira Networks is an aggregator WASP offering other WASPs and corporate clients connectivity to all three South African cellular networks across a wide range of bearer technologies. WASPs develop mobile content and applications that can be accessed by customers of cellular networks.
"Aggregator WASPs should manage clients through multiple server farms, run daily back-ups of critical information and have multiple redundant links to all cellular networks," said Mr Conde.
Mira Networks offers secure redundant connectivity to the three cellular networks across a range of bearer technologies such as SMS, MMS, USSD and more. Because several expensive layers of investment are required to reach all South African cellphone users, it is expensive and time-consuming for anyone but an aggregator, whose core business is connectivity, to provide this function.
