IA Systems, the sole local distributor of Hummingbird Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions, has just completed implementing the latest version of Hummingbird Enterprise at the Central Bank of Swaziland`s head office in the capital city, Mbabane.
Daniel Hall, CEO of IA Systems, says Hummingbird Enterprise replaces the bank`s previous document management system, Docs Open, an older technology used less and less in the market today.
"With Hummingbird Enterprise, users are able to access and work on documents stored in Hummingbird from a variety of different interfaces. Users can make use of the traditional Windows Explorer interface or they can chose to make use of Microsoft Outlook Client or Web client," says Hall.
Kenneth Mashaba, Central Bank of Swaziland`s ICT manager, says: "Hummingbird provides the bank with a lot of additional functionality and allows for the better overall management of information within the bank.
"Our previous solution, Docs Open, was due to be replaced, in line with our upgrade policy. Docs Open was also becoming unreliable and with vendors no longer supporting the product, the time had come to change it," comments Mashaba.
"Hummingbird addresses a lot of the difficulties the bank was experiencing. The product has proven to be more reliable, allowing users to manage their documents better, as well as providing the bank with improved network performance," he says.
"Along with providing different interfaces into the document management system, users are now also able to access and control other information in the same system turning it into a powerful content management repository. IA Systems will also continue to provide telephonic and on-site support to the bank," concludes Hall.
