HR software intros background checks
Social Intelligence, a US start-up, has developed software for human resources (HR) departments, allowing them to automatically search social networking sites to run background checks on job applicants, reports PCR Online.
According to Datamation, the software is designed to specifically search for negative characteristics in a candidate, covering categories such as poor judgement, gang membership, drugs and drug references and potentially violent behaviour.
The company also offers a separate service that runs continual tabs on existing employees with real-time notifications going to employers.
Queensland revamps payroll systems
The government of Queensland Australia says localised payroll services are now in place for all health districts, states ABC News.
The change is part of the response to this year's health pay problems. Thousands of workers have been incorrectly paid since the new system was introduced in March, says the report.
Health minister Paul Lucas says it is not a 'silver bullet' fix, but is better than a centralised payroll system that is too far removed from local hospitals. He says the personalised model will help link payroll hubs and local hospital staff.
Advantec unveils Kardiant HCM
Advantec has released a human capital management (HCM) solution, Kardiant, at the HR Technology Conference in Chicago, writes Centre Daily.
"Advantec has identified a huge gap in the mid-market HCM delivery. For decades, mid-market companies have benefited from the efficiencies rendered through transactional systems to manage payroll, benefits, but lacked any way to achieve alignment in their business," says Dianna Sheppard, CEO of Advantec.
Kardiant is the first of a new breed of HCM solutions from the company, which is said to help organisations achieve operational excellence.
