Hiconnex, a provider of cables and connectors to the military, aerospace, telecommunications and transport markets, has implemented Sage ERP X3 to support its rapid growth and future requirements.
The implementation was done by Softline Accpac's top business partner for five consecutive years, AccTech Systems.
Hitesh Pema, CEO of Hiconnex, says the previous system did not provide the necessary functionality required for manufacturing, distribution, and financial control. As a result, manufacturing, inventory control, and costs could not be accurately determined, shortcomings were evident in the distribution system, there were inadequate controls around system and business processes, and also a lack of reporting data. The company also found its financial data to be inadequate.
“With the growth the company was experiencing, it became imperative to implement an ERP system that would provide all the functionality, controls and reporting required. Most importantly, Hiconnex needed a system which would grow with the business,” says Pema. After conducting an intensive market review, Pema says he selected Sage ERP X3. “We believe that Sage ERP X3 is the best system to grow with the business. It also made sense to appoint AccTech Systems to manage the project as they are the largest Sage ERP X3 implementer in Africa.”
Tertius Zitzke, CEO of AccTech Systems, says Sage ERP X3, with its minimal network infrastructure requirements, will provide Hiconnex with the full functionality and features it has long desired, enabling it to meet its customer commitments and business objectives.
Hiconnex is continuously striving to expand its global market share, and embracing a world-class ERP system demonstrates its commitment to continuous process improvement, says Keith Fenner, vice-president - sales, Softline Accpac.
“Sage ERP X3 is ideal for companies seeking to utilise a modern enterprise system as a competitive weapon. The system supports all of the planning, scheduling and production control activities for either process or discrete manufacturing and adapts to different manufacturing modes, including make-to-order, configure-to-order, assemble-to-order, make-to-stock and mixed-mode environments. In addition, the manufacturing module is fully integrated with the sales, CRM, purchasing, inventory and finance components, delivering full integration throughout the business.”
Pema is more than satisfied with the implementation. He says the speed of goods received to despatch has greatly improved, as has the accuracy of materials planning, thanks to the implementation of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) module. Visibility into Hiconnex's production process and accuracy of its production costing has been introduced for the first time as a result of the implementation of the manufacturing module. “We are extremely pleased with the selection of Sage ERP X3 and look forward to a streamlined approach to business.”
