Hamworthy chooses IFS Applications for improved agility

Hamworthy Gas Systems AS and Hamworthy Pump Systems AS, world leaders in the development and supply of gas and pump systems to the shipping and offshore industries, have selected IFS Applications as their global business application system. The contract is worth approximately SEK 15 million.

Hamworthy Gas Systems AS and Hamworthy Pump Systems AS are both subsidiaries of the international group Hamworthy plc. Both companies are experiencing vigorous growth and have large order reserves. In order to deal with current and future deliveries in the most efficient manner possible, the group has now concentrated its focus on improved agility through simplifying and standardising vital business processes.

IFS` industry solution for project-oriented industry (EPCI) will standardise and support Hamworthy`s processes in engineering, project management, purchasing, document management, financial management, supply chain, human resources and after-sales activities. The solution also encompasses interfaces to CAD software and planning systems.

"The company`s expansion was exerting great pressure on our existing systems," says Tore Lunde of Hamworthy. "The industry solution from IFS was best suited to accommodate our needs and requirements. Further, IFS offers a flexible standard industry solution that reinforces our ability to change with the times in an ever-changing market. IFS has also shown that it understands our industry, a critical factor for long-term co-operation."

"IFS Applications for project-oriented industry (EPCI) includes Web-based solutions for engineering and documentation, where a multi-disciplined NORSOK-based engineering register is integrated with purchasing and delivery. This makes the solution unique in our field," says Glenn Arnesen, Managing Director of IFS Scandinavia.

In addition, the potential for extensive use of portals simplifies co-operation with suppliers in global delivery projects. Portals contribute to increased user value for the individual user, in that they allow fast access to information from the total industry solution.

IFS has many years of experience as a partner to project-oriented companies. The company has over 300 customers with project-based activities, many of which are in the offshore and maritime industry. Among IFS` customers in this field are Dresser-Rand, Aker Yards, Advanced Production & Loading (APL), Grenland Group, Rosenberg Verft, Kelvin Hughes, Rotary Engineering and Shedden Udhe.
