"The tone in our office is one of great excitement as we, Parity Software, have managed to land one of the greatest contracts in the Microsoft Dynamics GP group. Well done team," says Ken Fargher, Managing Director at Parity Software.
"Jumbo Cash and Carry, a leader in the mass distribution of ethnic toiletries, hair care products, cosmetics, and patent medicines in South Africa, is on the growth trail.
"The large wholesaler, which also distributes food and a range of general merchandise, intends to expand and needs a financial management solution that could help it grow."
Jumbo Cash and Carry had been using an Accpac DOS-based general ledger and other standalone applications, which resulted in a substantial amount of double entry and inefficiencies, due to the lack of integration between systems. In addition, reporting was limited, with many financial reports completed using only Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
Jumbo Cash and Carry's financial management needs led the company to Microsoft Dynamics GP for its advanced reporting tools, such as SQL Reporting Services and Microsoft FRx. The ease of integration with its other technology systems was also a factor in its purchase decision.
Jumbo Cash and Carry was impressed by the integration of Microsoft Dynamics GP with other Microsoft products the organisation was already using.
"Congratulations to the Microsoft Dynamics GP Team in SA on this impressive win," the article concludes.
"Masscash, a division of the Massmart Group, previously held two separately managed Cash and Carry wholesale food and liquor businesses - Jumbo Stores and CBW. With effect from July 2007, these two businesses are to be consolidated under one management team, and this has driven the need for one common financial system," says Mike Marshall, IT Director of the Masscash division of Massmart.
"CBW has run GP general ledger and Parity's creditors' module for a number of years, and Masscash management has decided to bring Jumbo onto this system and upgrade to Dynamics GP v9 in the process. This complex project, supported by Parity Software, involves an initial implementation of GP v9 at Jumbo, an upgrade at CBW and, finally, the creation of one Masscash instance to fully-support the financial processing and reporting for the combined business."
"The Masscash GP v9 financial system's 120 concurrent users will process almost R10 billion of creditors' transactions for over 80 stores, as well as supporting multi-currency reporting and complex multi-company statutory reporting requirements," comments Marshall.
