Popular e-mail service Gmail is down, leaving millions of people across the globe frustrated, including South Africans.
The outage comes as more people are working and learning from home because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Google-owned communication service is used by 1.5 billion users across the globe.
Reports indicate that other Google-owned services, such as Drive and Meet, are also down.
TechCrunch reported that third-party Web monitoring firm DownDetector has corroborated the outage reports that began pouring in this morning.
Google has acknowledged the existence of this outage to G Suite users, saying it is investigating the issue. “We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 1:30 PM (IST) detailing when we expect to resolve the problem,” it wrote.
At the time of writing, Gmail users were complaining about being unable to log into their accounts, with the majority failing to upload attachments and send e-mails.
Users were not amused by the outage and took to popular social media network Twitter to air their grievances.
