Gadgetry helps HR

Employees using HR software may find that the gadgetry comes in useful for updating health and safety procedures, says Sage.

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health has urged enterprises to start taking more responsibility for the well-being of their staff, after research from the Trades Union Congress revealed that almost half (49%) of UK workplaces have never received a visit from a health and safety inspector.

In addition, the study showed that only 27% were visited within the last 12 months.

Fairview selects Lawson HRM suite

Lawson Software says Fairview Health Services, a not-for-profit healthcare systems in Minnesota, has signed a contract to implement Lawson Human Resource Management, writes Trading Markets.

Lawson Human Resource Management helps streamline core human resources functions, such as employee and manager self-service and payroll. Lawson Professional Services will manage the implementation.

The contract was signed during the first quarter of Lawson's 2011 fiscal year, which ended 31 August 2010.

EHR outsourcing challenged

The 2009 US Stimulus Act is implementing changes in the way healthcare providers use electronic healthcare records (EHR), states CMS Wire.

By 2011, eligible providers and professionals will get benefits by implementing EHRs, and those who fail to adopt qualified EHR systems will have their Medicare payments penalised. This is seen as an opportunity by developers and service providers that offer outsourced services, such as software development and records management.

However, privacy concerns might come in the way of offshore companies winning contracts from healthcare companies.
