Further Xerox iGen3 colour press order in SA

Burlington Dataprint to grow business with breakthrough digital press technology

A leading South African commercial printer, Burlington Dataprint, has placed an order for the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press and associated Creo Spire workflow software.

For Burlington Dataprint, one of the oldest printing companies in Gauteng that has progressively adopted modern technology to deliver high-quality output for a wide customer base, the iGen3 represents an opportunity to develop a complementary digital business.

Rory Flanagan, managing director of Burlington Dataprint, commented: "We have a need to provide a faster service to our clients, particularly with those requiring short runs, print on demand and fast turnarounds. At drupa 2004 we recognised the Xerox iGen3 as a key to developing a new digital business opportunity and allows us to maximise our investment in our offset technology by using it for those jobs it was intended."

Anne Mulcahy, Chairman and CEO, Xerox Corporation, in Johannesburg for the introduction of the iGen3 to SA, commented: "Burlington Dataprint have joined the ranks of worldwide innovative printing companies that continuously seek new ways to offer superior and value-added print services to their clients."

The iGen3, the result of a $1 billion research and development investment and which includes more than 300 patents, is a 100-impression-per-minute full-colour digital press that provides benchmark print speed, offset-like image quality, and enhanced paper-handling capabilities.

The acceptance of the DocuColor iGen3 in the South African market demonstrates the rate of the local migration from traditional offset printing to digital technology platforms, which is occurring at a rapid pace worldwide and the commitment to the graphic arts industry by Xerox and its authorised distributor in SA, Bytes Document Solutions.
