There will be a special focus on fintech at the AfricaCom 2019 conference and exhibition, to be held from 12 to 14 November in Cape Town.
One of the streams at the 22nd annual AfricaCom event is Fintech Africa, featuring panel discussions, talks and case studies that will unpack how AI, blockchain, mobile payments and the digital economy will shape the continent’s financial services landscape.
Some of the sessions include:
- Panel discussions on future of digital financial services in Africa; innovation and financial inclusion; and AI’s role in m-commerce.
- A case study on fund raising, presented by Herman Singh, CEO of Future Advisory, detailing the largest ever equity crowdfunding in Africa ($2.5m) for Intergreatme on the Uprise Africa Platform.
- A presentation on the ‘Bankable farmer, looking at using data analysis and connecting the traditional banking sector with small commercial farmers.
- A talk by Clickatell co-founder and CEO Pieter de Villiers on the rise of chat commerce, outlining how businesses can unlock chat-platforms as a new stream of revenue.
One of the highlights of the fintech stage will be a live showcase of fintech solutions.
The Fintech Live Showcase, takes place on 13 November from 15:20, and will be chaired by Dominique Collett, head of AlphaCode, Rand Merchant Investment Group’s support programme for finservices entrepreneur and Clive Butkow, Kalon Venture Partners CEO. and
