Fiducia chooses Siemens HiPath 8000 for new telecoms business model

Aiming to implement a new business model in the telecommunications sector, Fiducia IT AG, the largest IT service provider for several German banking cooperatives, has commissioned Siemens Communications to install a HiPath 8000 softswitch for its telecommunications network.

With the new SIP-based telecommunications platform, the company's customers will be able to use voice applications and features as part of the service offering, saving the expense of procuring and operating their own systems. Acting as a central service provider, Fiducia IT is offering these facilities at a low price and always with the latest updates.

Besides providing IT services to its customers, with the new installation of the SIP-based HiPath 8000 softswitch, Fiducia will in future be able to provide real-time communication as a service via the WAN. For Fiducia's customers, this means that applications and features such as telephony, CTI applications or Unified Messaging (UMS) will be made available to them via IP.

Billing will be structured according to a port price model: customers will use and pay for the communication applications they currently need and for the number of ports they request, so there will be no need for them to operate and upgrade their own telephone system. This offers the banking cooperatives much appreciated potential for savings in the region of 15% to 25%.

The technical implementation of the new communication architecture is based on the hosting principle. The real-time IP system HiPath 8000 is the central switching entity in Fiducia's network and acts as the host or overlay network. The communication terminals used in the solution by Fiducia and its customers will be managed in future via this communications system.

By contracting Siemens, the world's number one supplier of VOIP connections, Fiducia IT has brought in the most competent technology and service partner for the job. Over 70% of the Fortune 500 corporations have selected a HiPath solution, and customers include BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Deutsche Bank, Ford, IBM, Kodak, SAP, BP and Volvo.

Support from Siemens' HiPath Managed Services will ensure the new business model can be realised securely and reliably. The services provided by Siemens include the monitoring of all systems and components 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. And Siemens also assumes the organisation and controllership of any on-site work required.

HiPath is the Enterprise Convergence Architecture from Siemens. A comprehensive solution and service portfolio enables companies to further expand their existing voice and data infrastructures, safeguard their existing capital investment, and implement second generation IP (2gIP) applications to optimise company processes and lead to a sustained improvement in productivity.
