GE intros e-health platform in Middle East

With a focus on connecting the healthcare system through clinical information exchange, GE Healthcare has introduced its next-generation e-health platform in the Middle East, says AMEInfo.

The Global e-Health Solutions platform includes expanded services for health information exchange, a clinical portal, and a patient health management system, all focused on delivering the value of e-health to healthcare providers, insurance bodies, and governmental agencies.

These solutions help to simplify the collection and exchange of data across a wide variety of legacy clinical systems, including imaging products, hospital information systems, electronic medical records, laboratories, pharmacies and other systems used for diagnostics or patient monitoring.

E-health grants create 1 000 jobs

According to White House officials, health IT grants awarded to 15 communities for expanding the use of electronic health records will also create about 1 000 jobs, writes NextGov.

“Everyone wants to hear 'You're hired',” said Jared Bernstein, chief economist to vice-president Joseph Biden, during a conference call with reporters. The announcement "will bring that news to over 1 000 more people".

Biden said the administration had awarded $220 million in stimulus funds to communities selected as pioneers in expanding the use of digital patient records.
